| How is it possible that in the 21st century there are people who still have not heard of the gospel of Jesus Christ? With all of the technological advances in travel and communication, how is it that the good news not been shared? The answer is simple: Christians still have not gone to many tough-to-reach places across the globe with the gospel. There are thousands of indigenous peoples throughout South America who are either “un-reached” or have no viable access to the gospel. Many of these people live in the country of Peru, especially in the mountainous regions of Southern Peru. | | Southern Peru is a strikingly beautiful place, one that’s not easily forgotten. The Andes Mountains dominate every line of sight. The sky is many shades of blue during the day and bright with stars during the night. The people are beautiful and excited about life regardless of their lack of wealth or the effect of a violent history | Isaiah 12:4 Make known his deeds among the peoples; proclaim that his name is exalted. | littered with terrorism and corruption. At first glance one would never understand the pain and poverty that has dwelled in the hearts of the Andean people in these remote villiages. But wounds lay open under the surface and they are crying out for healing. Worlds away from the comforts of life that we are accustomed to in the states, they have the same needs as we do... to know the giver of life, Jesus. | | The vision of To the edge: Peru is to see the light of Jesus Christ taken to the dark areas of southern Peru. Our goal is to help indigenous churches get started in three targeted areas that will teach and preach the true gospel of Jesus. The goal is not simply to see Peruvians become Christians, but to see them become fully devoted disciples of Christ, who go out and make disciples of their own. |
